Beginners MMA
The Lion's Den is the original MMA School since the inception of the sport. In the early 90's, the Lion's Den found its roots as the first fighting team to incorporate experts of various martial arts disciplines to come together and provide fighters with a well rounded knowledge and mastery of the most effective combat sports, essentially, "mixed Martial Arts" is a combination of stand up and ground skills. The sport has since evolved into its own martial art discipline rather than a series of individual skill sets. The emergence of MMA into mainstream culture has made fighting in a cage a very lucrative profession. With that, the game has changed dramatically. Fighters are far more skilled than ever before, as the best fighters in the world possess a well-rounded package of ground and striking skills. Granted, each fighter has his or her specific strengths, but to have success in elite competition, fighters must have the complete package. The "nuts and bolts" of MMA consists of some, not all of the techniques used in boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling.
At the Lion's Den, our coaches have an all-encompassing approach to providing our fighters with the perfect recipe for success in the cage. Our Head MMA instructor, Erik Larkin, has coached some of the most elite mixed martial art competitors in the nation.
Our Beginners' MMA program is a highly scientific and comprehensive blend of various disciplines. Students of all skill levels are welcome to participate in this fun, intriguing fighting style. There are no typical days in our MMA program. Class emphasis will vary day to day, offering students basic fundamentals and techniques as seen by your favorite fighters. These are non sparring classes that all can participate in.
